Surviving Half-cab AEC Regals

Back

Following Dick Gilbert's sterling work in assembling what is the closest we have to a "definitive" list of survivors (see Classic Buses Half-cab list), here is my attempt to supply up to date photos, information, and links.

Inevitably this list will take some time to complete, as some of the vehicles are remarkably camera-shy, and even if I have photos, I may not be able to display them on a website for copyright reasons. So please take everything here as work in progress.

Because I am currently restricting this page to half-cab regals, the list contains Models I, II, and III only, with a time-span from 1929 to mid 1950s. I have decided NOT to include vehicles which have been rebuilt as breakdown lorries, or of which only the chassis survives, or which were originally half-cabs but have been rebodied to full-front, etc.

If you are able to send me any recent photos or information for the site, I would be most grateful. Please note that I am restricting the photos to shots of the vehicles as they are now, not in-service shots, although I will be happy to provide links to other pages.

As at June 2006 there are 57 vehicles listed here (do you know of any more?), of which 46 have photos. So I need 11 recent photos please!

Please email them (confirming the owner's permission to use them) to John Braga@crownsys.co.uk
