2nd. I attack the rear offside chassis
to remove the extension piece and free the bent spacer.
|
17th. At last the on-order steel is delivered! Perhaps it will
not be long before I will be able to add something on rather than cut it off...

24th. The new spacer, still in primer, is fitted in place.
|
26th. I bolt on the end pieces and put another coat of red-oxide
on the new side panel.

29th. This afternoon I took my courage in both hands and attacked
the offside rear to separate the rear panel from the chassis, so that I could
slide in the new rear bulkhead. As expected, this caused the last bay of the
body to sag even more noticeably so I rectified matters by propping up the rear
at both sides with an acro-prop and a stout length of timber. Now that the
rear-end is fully supported, I am now able to remove the rear bearer,
temporarily no longer load-bearing, for a full clean-up and repaint.
|
29th. I also silvered the new spacer and rear extensions.
