14th. I attack the 2 clamps attaching
the chassis to the rear bearer, and clean up part of the bearer itself.
It takes me all afternoon to clean up 2 clamps!
|
15th. Having cleaned the end-bearer thoroughly I give it 2 coats
of red-oxide. Great stuff, (except when it gets on your hands).
Am now wondering whether to remove the boot floor to clean up the last bit
of chassis...

|
16th. Having found a promising supplier of steel, I remove the
steel sheet from bay 6.
More haste, less speed...
|
| 16th. Movement can be seen at the bearer clamps.

|
17th. A surprise awaited me when I removed the floorboards from
the boot. What is that nasty-looking bent tubing linking the chassis members?
|
| 17th. The wood supporting the boot floor is riddled with
woodworm and definitely time-expired. It will be easily replaced.

17th. Half of the rear chassis cleaned up and silvered.
|
| 27th. The boot chassis after its second coat of silver
paint.

|
29th. After half a bank-holiday spent scraping flaking
paint off virtually unreachable areas of the chassis, I decided to try
something different, and took the centre back panel off.
Not that it came away without a struggle!
|
29th. I am now getting a better idea of what needs to be done to
attach the boot doors. The vertical angles and horizontal angle obviously need
to be replaced.
