New rear bulkhead in place |
||
|
I have attached the rear bulkhead, which separates the boot from the main body to the rear bearer with 2 bolts only at one end. I will fix 2 more bolts, then correct the fitting of the bearer. At present it is about 1 cm too far to the nearside. Once I have positioned it exactly I need to fit hardwood blocks under the clamps so that the bolts cannot move sideways under pressure. I can then work along the bearer, drilling through the bulkhead to add further bolts I can then remove the temporary wooden fittings from the top of the bulkhead and replace them with the newly fabricated permanent ones. This would take less than an hour with all the correct equipment, but it will take me a lot longer with a cordless drill. In particular, the large holes under the clamp will each take many minutes to drill. |
