The life of a clamp!

Clamp 1

I have ground off 3 bolts attaching the clamp to the bearer through the wood, and am starting to drill the wood to extract it. The wood is rotten.

2 distorted bolts have been removed (the third disintegrated) after a lot of hammering and a few battered thumbs.

Here is the clamp cleaned up, with the wood removed.

Here is the clamp with the first coat of Red-oxide liberally added.

I have yet to clean up the inside of the bearer (my wire brush is ground down to the knuckles!) and I need to insert new pieces of wood to strengthen the clamp.
