Centre of suspect Bearer

I am taking the plunge and will replace this bearer in its entirety. The parts have been ordered! It is held in place by two large clamps, one of which can be seen on the right.

The bearer is made up of hefty steel channel with a filler of ash and further strengthened along most of its length by wood in the channel on both sides.
