Front bearer removed.

This afternoon I cut away material from the end of the bearer where it was attached to the offside front pillar, and after a bitter struggle, it gave up and came away.

Now I can clean up the supports and attach the new bearer, which is currently being painted.

The old bearer. Construction is very simple. 2 channels of 3"x1" steel sandwiching a 1" hardwood filling, and additional filling to support the floor.
