Chassis Prepared

Chassis bay 2

I clean off the old silver paint with a scraper, wire-brush, drill attachment and hammer! Note the holes in the chassis which were obviously drilled for a fitting which is no longer there. As this is bay 2, nearside, I wonder if this was where the spare wheel was kept?

(A later visit to the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum shows me that the spare wheel was indeed kept on the top of the chassis member, with some sort of frame below - hence the holes in the chassis - to keep it in place. One coach I saw had a flexible steel strip which could be pulled by a handle to make the task of removing the wheel easier)
